J. J. Abrams, der Schöpfer von "Lost" und "Alias", der uns ebenfalls Mission: Impossible 3 bescherte, wird einen Monsterfilm drehen. Mit Cloverfield erwartet ein neuer Riesenmonsterfilm aus Hollywood. Um mehr Realismus zu erzeugen wird er stellenweise sogar mit der Handkamera gefilmt.
Ein Teaser soll demnächst sogar schon veröffentlicht werden, hört sich aufjedenfall alles sehr interessant an.

Klingt ja ma' recht interessant. Erst Jacksons "King Kong" und nun sind mit dem Film von Parker & Stone und diesem hier gleich zwei neue Riesenmonsterfilme aus den USA angekündigt. Kommt die Renaissance der Monster etwa doch noch?!

Sorry, aber inzwischen könnte man ein Buch mit diesen Gerüchten füllen. Früher dieses Jahr wurde das Gerücht wieder verbreitet, und das wurde so hochgeschaukelt, dass Tristar das Gerücht offiziell dementieren musste.
Wenn du solche Gerüchte erwähnst, solltest du dazuschreiben, wo du's her hast, ansonsten ist's nämlich nur mal wieder ein alle paar Monate aufkommendes, letztlich eben falsches Gerücht. Wie war das mit dem Jungen, der immer "Hilfe, Wölfe!" ruft?!

Ich hätte in meinem Posting "Alten Gerüchten zufolge" hervorheben sollen. Ausserdem wurden sie ja wie du erwähntest schon wieder dementiert.
Tatsache ist, dass man kurzfristig (nachdem der Film etwa 375 Millionen Dollar einspielte) ein Sequel plante.

Nevertheless, Sony Pictures and Centropolis moved ahead with plans for the film. Tab Murphy (LAST OF THE DOGMEN, Disney’s TARZAN) wrote a story treatment set in Sydney, Australia [Murphy’s 10/19/1999 outline for GODZILLA 2 is available at Monster Zero News]. Dean Devlin and Roland Emmerich began pre-production, but— as DeBont had done years before— pulled out of the project in March 1999 when Sony would not approve Centropolis’ planned budget for the film.

So far what we know is that JJ Abrams (Lost, Mission Impossible III) is producing with Drew Goddard of (Buffy, Lost, Alias) writing the screenplay. Bloody-Disgusting Exclusive: One of my close friends' brother was cast as an extra in the trailer for JJ Abrams CLOVERFIELD a few months back. What he tells us is that the name CLOVERFIELD is just a cover up and that the film will actually be called something else. The film is referred to as "The Cloverfield Project" and at the time the script had not even been written yet. He tells Bloody-Disgusting that when they shot the scene with the statue of liberty's head rolling they were told it was a comet and that there was a long string they had to watch as cars exploded all around them. Pretty cool beans. So there you have it, as of right now the title of the film will NOT be CLOVERFIELD, unless someone changes their mind...

I attended a Transformers sneak preview last night in Scottsdale, Arizona and wanted to tell you that, sure enough, you were right about the Cloverfield trailer. It was the first preview that played. While I'm sure plenty of people will continue to write in with their take on Bay's latest, I wanted to give you the play by play of this amazing new trailer.

The entire thing takes place from the perspective of a party goer with a camera, waiting to surprise their friend, Rob. It's basically a nice, big bon voyage party between friends. The entire thing feels incredibly real and like plenty of parties I've been to myself--people mingle, munch on chips, chatter, etc. Rob arrives, everyone yells surprise, the camera person interviews people for anything they have to say to Rob before he leaves.

After probably 30 seconds or a little longer, the apartment shakes, the lights flicker, people scream and head to the roof. A crowd approaches the edge of the roof immediately as a massive explosion miles away takes place. People scream and start scrambling back to the stairs. Right before they enter the stairwell, something like a comet (a piece of the previous explosion) comes flying near the people and the roof. The camera is very jumpy and cuts in and out as people make their way down a darkened stairwell to the street. At this point, I can't remember if the screen cuts to black and says "From producer JJ Abrams..." or if that happens once they're all on the ground. Either way, it's at a good moment and is the first inkling as to what we're watching.

Once on the ground, some people are running in hysteria while others look into the distance trying to figure what's happening. Pieces of the explosion start flying towards the ground and hitting buildings all around. The people that were just looking into the distance finally start moving. At that moment, a massive piece of the explosion starts heading towards the camera. It flies right by and skids down the middle of the city street, hitting some people along the way. The piece finally slows down, rocks back towards the camera, and there she is--Lady Liberty's face, in flames and destroyed. Cut to black. Hitting theatres January 2008 (I think it was 01/18/08).

In my opinion this is one of the most effective trailers I've ever seen. It's not polished like most big budget film trailers, but it felt huge. It had people in the theatre chattering, wondering what the heck this is and when it's coming. The entire trailer had a verisimilitude to it. It felt like it was happening... like we were there. In short, it did it's job and then some. Surprisingly, they didn't say what the name of the film was in the trailer. Whatever it's called in the end though, I'm there.

This preview had me more tense and excited than anything I saw in Transformers. And heck, I even liked Transformers in all its Bayish ridiculousness.

If you use this, call me ThatGuy.

Ansonsten macht man's offenbar ziemlich spannend. Meinerseits zieht's, ich bin gespannt.

J.J. Abrams wird offenbar nicht selbst Regie führen. Matt Reeves, der bisher eher an TV-Serien wie "Felicity" gearbeitet hat, wird diese Aufgabe übernehmen.

Hammer, wenn der ganze Film so wird könnte das echt nen Blockbuster werden. In amerikanischen Foren vermuten die Leute schon das es nen neuer US Godzilla sein könnte und die das alles nur geheim halten wollen. Glaub ich zwar nicht dran, aber vielleicht ja doch

Neues Gerücht besagt das es ein Remake von Rodan (!!!!!!) sein könnte, weil Paramount sich angeblich vor 2 Jahren dafür die Remakerechte gesichert hat. Ehrlich gesagt ist mir das neu das paramount sich die Rechte an Rodan gekauft haben soll

Ich halte die Gerüchte, dass es sich um einen weiteren Gino oder einen neuen Rodan handeln könnte für absoluten Blödsinn.

Wobei es natürlich in der Post-GINO-Ära eine intelligente Strategie wäre, die Leute erstmal auf den Film an sich neugierig zu machen, bevor diese wissen, dass es sich um Godzilla (oder Rodan) handelt. Trotzdem glaube ich es nicht, die werden schon was eigenes machen (wobei das eine das andere ja leider nicht ausschließt).

Im Internet gibt es Gerüchte, die das Monster als "The Parasite" beschrieben.

Das könnte ähnlich wie Cloverfiled ein Deckname sein.

Der Name klingt für mich nach einem Insekt oder so. Das Gebrüll im Trailer allerdings nicht. Bin sehr gespannt was da die Freiheitsstatue köpft.

Auf der Comic Con solls ja neue Informationen zu dem Film geben, ich bin schon sehr gespannt was uns da erwartet
Ich hoffe das Brüllen bleibt auch beim fertigen Film, weil es ist das erste Mal das ich ein Monstergeschrei unheimlich finde, einfach nur hammer das Geräusch
Jetzt muss nur noch das Aussehen zum Brüllen passen

In der von mir angegebenen Quelle im Eingangsposting steht nur, dass der Film in der Tradition von „The Parasite“ sein soll. Ich bin auch schon sehr gespannt auf den Film, endlich mal wieder ein Riesenmonsterblockbuster .

ist das nicht fast ein bisschen zu wenig, wenn man allein schon für die szene im gezeigten trailer betrachtet, sieht das ganze doch recht anspruchsvoll aus. mal schauen, aber ehrlich egsagt, ich hoffe ein bisschen, dass dieser film eine toho kaiju wiedergeburt bedeutet

Das sehe ich genau so, 30 Mio. US-$ sind für einen Riesenmonsterblockbuster doch relativ wenig, hoffentlich sitzen die richtigen Leute dahinter .
Die Japaner schaffen das doch schließlich auch traumhafte Effekte mit sogar noch kleineren Budgets zu zaubern, jetzt dürfen die Amis sich auch mal ne Scheibe davon abschneiden, bin aufjedenfall sehr gespannt auf das fertige Ergebnis .

naja, muss ja nicht unbedingt bedeuten, dass 30 million $ grundsätzlich zu wenig sind für nen monsterstreifen. aber wenn man mal so die maßstäbe der amis der letzten jahre sieht, würde ich behaupten, dass die 30 million (vorsichtig formuliert) ein bissl wenig ist.

Der Teaser schaut schonmal ganz cool aus und macht Bock auf mehr.

Und ein Budget von 30 Mio $ sollte durchaus reichen. Man wird das Monster und die Action wahrscheinlich eh nie deutlich und komplett sehen können, weil das ganze durch verschreckte Menschen mit ihren schlechten Kameras gefilmt wird (so können die Sfx-Leute etwas schlampiger Arbeiten und somit Geld einsparen).

Zudem schein das ganze auch viel mehr in Richtung Experimental/Independent-Film zu gehen, anstatt in "Riesenmonsterblockbuster". Daher wird es auch wohl ne eigenständige Sache anstatt ein Toho-Kaiju-Remake oder eine Voltron-Verfilmung.

30 Mio. $ dürften eigentlich ausreichen, immerhin wird's nur ein Monster geben und großartig Ausstattung und Stars wird's ja anscheinend auch nicht geben.
